Further investment at Les Milandes - an update
The sun has been shining and the doors and windows at our properties at Les Milandes have been flung open in preparation for the new season. We have spent a busy few weeks in April preparing for the arrival of our first guests of 2019. We are also delighted with the fruits of our recent refurbishment programme. These improvements are often based on guest feedback or sometimes out of necessity.
As we have mentioned before, Les Milandes is a home away from home for us. We holiday here a great deal and love the peace and tranquillity of the Dordogne. We also never tire of the incredible local towns, food and wine. It’s important to us that our guests enjoy Les Milandes as much as we do.
The recent improvements include:
At the L’Arc en Ciel, a two bedroom gite, the master bathroom has had a comprehensive makeover comprising a new shower with generous rain head and loo. The bathroom now features ‘tongue and groove’ wooden walls painted in one of our favourite shades from the Farrow & Ball colour palette, ‘Setting Plaster’, a dusky and warm shade with pink/beige tones. The master bedroom has also been repainted and a classic French style headboard installed. Externally, we have resurfaced the paving between the L’Arc en Ciel and Maison de Gardien to create a smarter look.
At the L’Ancienne Mairie, a beautiful three bedroom cottage, the two twin bedrooms have been redecorated in ‘Cooking Apple Green’ and ‘Light Blue’ shades, again from Farrow & Ball and accessorised with pretty French decorative touches on the floral cushions and bedspreads. We have also reconfigured the downstairs layout, switching the dining room and sitting room areas and have painted the staircase in a neutral colour to provide an overall lighter and more open feel.
At Le Manoir, a luxurious six bedroom manor house, the master bedroom has benefited from the removal of the existing fabric wall. The walls have been freshly painted in sultry ‘Setting Plaster.’ The comprehensive refurbishment of this elegant room also features vintage country style furniture in neutral shades and a 6 foot bed perfect for leisurely mornings enjoying a cup of tea with sunlight streaming through the window.
We do hope that our guests enjoy these improvements as much as we do!
