Directions
We have taken numerous routes but here are some suggestions depending on whether you prefer driving on motorways or cross country.
From Ouistreham (Caen) or Le Havre
Using principally motorways:
- Caen then take A84 motorway towards Mont St Michel. Continue towards Rennes, Nantes then A83 to Niort and Bordeaux. At Bordeaux take A89 to Perigueux.
- Useful overnight stop is Abbaye de Villeneuve which is just south of Nantes off the motorway. Not cheap but very convenient Tel: 00 33 (0)240 04 40 25
- Using principally A roads:
- Caen, Falaise, Alencon, Le Mans, Tours, Poitiers, Angouleme, Perigueux.
- Or more scenic
- Caen, Flers, Laval, Angers, Poitiers, Angouleme, Perigueuex
- Lovely overnight stop is Chateau de Briottieres just north of Angers Again not cheap Tel: 00 33 (0)241 42 00 02
- From Cherbourg
- Drop down through St Lo and join motorway to Nantes as above
- From St Malo
- Drop down through Rennes and join motorway to Nantes as above
From Dieppe
- Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, A10 motorway Orleans, A20 motorway Vierzon, Chateauroux, Limoges, Brive. Leave motorway at Souillac
- From Boulogne or Calais
- Either head to Rouen and pick up as above or take Peripherique around Paris and pick up A10 to Orleans – then as above
From Perigueuex
- Take the D710 towards Sarlat. Continue on D710 following signs for Le Bugue. Go through Le Bugue and head for St Cyprien via Campagne, where you turn right on the D35.
- On reaching St Cyprien follow D703 in direction of Beynac for approximately 2 miles where you will take the small road to the right signposted Allas les Mines and Chateau des Milandes. Cross the river into Allas les Mines (note Le Gabarrier restaurant on left) and follow signs to Enveaux and on to Chateau des Milandes.
- On reaching les Milandes you will pass Le Parc des Milandes on the left hand side and immediately take a sharp right. Follow this road for approximately 200 yards and again turn sharp right following signs for the Chateau. Follow the road up the small hill which then bears left. Just before the road kinks again to the left, you will see a yew hedge and a turning to your right which is the drive to our car park.
From Brive
- Continue on the Autoroute A20 past Brive and leave at Souillac where you follow signs for Sarlat.
- When on this road, head for Roque Gageac and Beynac.
- Having passed through Roque Gageac, continue for approximately half a mile and turn left over the bridge to Castelnaud la Chapelle. Just over the bridge, turn right towards Chateau des Milandes.
- After approximately 2 -3 miles Le Parc des Milandes will face you on the right hand side when you reach Les Milandes and you immediately turn sharp left.
- Follow this road for approximately 200 yards and turn sharp right following signs for the Chateau. Follow the road up the small hill which then bears left. Just before the road kinks again to the left, you will see a yew hedge and a turning to your right which is the drive to our car park.
From Sarlat
- Take the D57 towards Beynac and at Vezac take the D703 towards Roque Gageac.
- Before you reach Roque Gageac turn right over the bridge to Castelnaud la Chapelle. Just over the bridge, turn right towards Chateau des Milandes.
- After approximately 2 - 3 miles Le Parc des Milandes will face you on the right hand side when you reach Les Milandes and you immediately turn sharp left.
- Follow this road for approximately 200 yards and turn sharp right following signs for the Chateau.
- Follow the road up the small hill which then bears left.
- Just before the road kinks again to the left, you will see a yew hedge and a turning to your right which is the drive to our car park.
From Bergerac Airport
- As you leave the airport, turn right towards Bergerac.
- Turn right at the first roudabout towards Sarlat.
- At next roundabout, again turn right towards Sarlat on D660.
- At Lalinde, cross over the river on to D29 to Le Buisson and then D25 to Siorac.
- At Siorac, follow D703 and continue past St Cyprien in direction of Beynac for approximately 2 miles until you take the small road to the right signposted Allas les Mines and Chateau des Milandes.
- Cross the river into Allas les Mines (note Le Gabarrier restaurant on left) and follow signs to Enveaux and on to Chateau des Milandes.

If you are returning to Bergerac airport and want to stop for lunch near the airport, there is “Le Bistro en Face” at Tremolat (0553 228069) which is approximately 40 – 45 minutes away or “A la Grappe d’Or” which is on the D933 at Le Peyrat near Monbazillac and just 5 – 10 minutes from the airport.
