The owners – Sarah and Chris
Our love affair with Les Milandes dates back to 2001, when we first came here to stay. The following year we were lucky enough to become the new owners. To us, it is a very special place both for the beauty of the Dordogne area and also for its feeling of timelessness, tranquillity and well-being.
Over the years we have sympathetically refurbished and improved the four properties which make up Les Milandes. One of the biggest projects that we undertook was the complete renovation of Maison de Gardien (a former gatekeeper’s cottage) in 2007.
This was followed the year after by the installation of a completely new kitchen in the Manoir which involved moving it from one end of the house to the middle – now it acts as the central hub of the house.
We visit Les Milandes several times a year. While here, we make sure that the properties and gardens are in good order. This often means that much of our time is spent painting walls and cutting grass rather than sitting on the loungers! That being said, we have many very happy memories here. For us, Les Milandes really is a home from home.
This part of the world is truly stunning; beautiful countryside, amazing architecture and of course, fantastic food and drink. Luckily, you can also indulge in a wide range of outdoor activities, ideal for burning off the additional calories. We are obviously biased, but the Dordogne really is a great destination whatever your age. (You can read our blog about our favourite things to see and do here.)
We hope that you will come and stay at Les Milandes and enjoy your time here as much as we still do.
