Investing in Les Milandes
Much more than holiday rentals in Dordogne.
Ever since buying Les Milandes back in 2002, we have always thought of the properties as a home away from home. Les Milandes means much more to us than an income stream from holiday rentals in Dordogne. We take our own summer holidays here and visit several times during the course of a year. We love the peace, tranquillity and slower pace of life. It’s also important for us to see firsthand that the properties and grounds are in great condition. (When we aren’t around, Angela, a local friend, is on hand to help guests and oversee any maintenance work.)
In the coming weeks, we will be undertaking another round of refurbishments and improvements ready for the new ‘holiday season’ which starts for us in May. (At the moment we are undergoing the somewhat frustrating process of obtaining quotes which aren’t too eye-watering. Easier said than done, particularly with the euro jumping around.)
We are planning to install a new shower room on the first floor of Le Manoir. The TV room will be redecorated and new folding doors are due to be fitted between the kitchen and the hall. The dormer windows on the garden side are being refurbished and alongside all the regular gardening maintenance, the large lime tree in the Manoir’s garden will be pollarded. (It’s one thing cutting the grass, climbing a big tree with a chainsaw is definitely a job for the professionals!)
The painters and decorators will also be spending quite a bit of time at L’Ancienne Mairie. Internally, we are planning to redecorate the kitchen units and the ‘middle’ bedroom. When the painters have finished that little lot, they will be cracking on with the exterior windows and the doors to the courtyard.
The last two properties, L’Arc en Ciel and Maison de Gardien are also having more money spent on them. The pool that guests of these properties can exclusively use will have a new liner fitted. Guests will be able to walk to the pool on brand new paving and soak up the amazing views on new garden furniture.
After that little lot we will probably be in need of a sit down (and a large glass of wine) ourselves.
We hope to be able to welcome you to Les Milandes soon.
